3-D Service’s Safety Performance Recognized by AK Steel

Steelmaker honors 3-D’s safe track record for second consecutive year.

MASSILLON, Ohio (June 14, 2004) – 3-D Service, a leader in the repair and maintenance of commercial and industrial equipment, today announced it has been recognized by AK Steel for injury-free performance in 2003 at the Middletown, Ohio, steel mill. 3-D was also honored for its safety performance at the mill in 2002.

3-D Service employees worked a total of 1,816 hours at the Middletown mill in 2003 without an accident or injury. 3-D employees worked 979 safe hours at the mill in 2002.

“We’re extremely honored to once again earn the recognition of AK Steel for our safety performance,” said Bernie DeWees, 3-D Service president. “We continue to place safety as a foremost concern. A major portion of our employee training initiative is focused on safety, and our people take great pride in getting the job done without incident. The fact that AK Steel puts a tremendous emphasis on safety makes this recognition even more rewarding.”

Ed Weimer, general manager of 3-D’s Cincinnati Service Center, accepted the award on behalf of the company. AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets, as well as tubular steel products.
