Tailored Training

3-D Service offers several training courses to improve technical skills among employees and offer overall quality to your business. Our instructors are active in their field of expertise to provide relevance in the classroom and applied knowledge on the job. We provide five courses of instruction including: OSHA Electrical Safety, Arc Flash Hazard, AC/DC Motor Fundamentals, Crane & Hoist Maintenance & Inspection and Substation Maintenance. All attendees receive training manuals, testing and certificates of attendance. Timken is one of many companies that take advantage of these courses.

From January 12, 2007 to February 2, 2007 Timken Steel employees completed four sessions of the AC/DC Motor Fundamentals course, which was specifically customized to meet their needs. This course covered the principles of operation of both AC motors and DC motors, including motor components, types of motors, advantages of each type and preventive maintenance. AC/DC Motor Fundamentals is one of five courses that can be tailored to a company’s specifications.

Timken benefited from the customized course by applying installation, maintenance and troubleshooting requirements for both maintenance personnel and their supervisors in the all day training, which included a shop tour, material handouts, presentations and lectures. The four sessions in which Timken took part began with an introduction on AC motor installation and maintenance, and then continued with presentations on proper megger testing and interpretation of the results. This was followed by lectures on AC motor troubleshooting and DC motor installation and maintenance. After lunch attendees were taken on a tour of 3-D Service’s Massillon repair facility. DC motor troubleshooting and maintenance of cooling blowers was the last topic of the day. The Timken Company also takes advantage of 3-D Service’s Total Motor Management program and “Lunch & Learn” training sessions, both elements of a partnership that 3-D Service strives to maintain with all our customers.
