3-D Service’s drives and control technicians over the past year have attended drives training at the ABB Drives Training Center in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Technicians successfully completed training and testing to be ABB certified start-up and warranty service technicians for ACS and DCS 350, 550, and 800 drives and ACH550 drives.

Each 4-day course had the goal of teaching students to start-up, adjust, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the drive using available programming and troubleshooting tools. Topics covered included:

• Direct torque control theory
• Programming
• Commissioning and tuning
• Fault tracing and troubleshooting
• Fieldbus interfacing
• Reading and interpreting circuit diagrams
• Hardware repair
• Drive communications
• Sensorless vector and flux vector controls
• Drive power system measurements
